Maison de Papier the collection
Maison de Papier - in production
This collection blends both male and female experience and influence.
It is concerned with the stories of individuals.
It aims to be simultaneously: visually beautiful; technically ambitious; conceptually intriguing.
It is inspired by the year (2016-2017) that Stephanie Smart spent as Artist-in-Residence at Danny house
- a Grade 1 listed Elizabethan mansion in Hurstpierpoint, East Sussex.
It is influenced by the history of the house, its past owners and the time Stephanie spent
getting to know some of Danny Houses’ current retired residents (featured in the video above) who stem
from many fascinating walks of life.
Click the button below to
read brief outlines of the life stories of the residents, to watch a virtual tour of the exhibition and to learn more about the residency.
